SHE'S IN A DELUXE APARTMENT IN THE SKY
Surely you've heard of Isabel Sanford's passing last Friday. In tribute, tonight TVLand is running a three-hour block of "The Jeffersons". I'm there.

In further tribute to Weezy, the Freep's Rochelle Riley delivers a touching retrospective, along with what's probably the best TV theme song ever:

Well we're movin' on up,
To the east side.
To a deluxe apartment in the sky.
Movin' on up
To the east side.
We finally got a piece of the pie.

Fish don't fry in the kitchen;
Beans don't burn on the grill.
Took a whole lotta tryin'
Just to get up that hill.
Now we're up in the big leagues
Gettin' our turn at bat.
As long as we live, it's you and me baby
There ain't nothin' wrong with that.

Well we're movin' on up,
To the east side.
To a deluxe apartment in the sky.
Movin' on up
To the east side.
We finally got a piece of the pi-i-i-i-e.

How much do I love that song? It's on my permanent iPod playlist.

Trivia bit: "Movin' On Up" was co-written and performed by Ja'net DuBois, who's best known as Willona on "Good Times". Small world.
