WABBIT SEASON, DUCK SEASON, COACH SEASON
iced sacked dunked
You don't see this too often. A big day of bloodletting in major league professional sports today, as three head coaches in three different leagues--the NHL, NFL, and NBA--got the axe on the same day:

- The Washington Caps fired Bruce Cassidy;

- The Atlanta Falcons fired Dan Reeves (actually, Reeves sort of resigned: When told he definitely would be fired at the end of the season no matter what, Reeves decided to force the issue and leave now);

- The Phoenix Suns fired Frank Johnson.

Major League Baseball, hello? Care to supersize today's coach-killing trifecta into a superfecta?

UPDATE: None of the MLB teams followed suit and fired a manager. In fact, the Brewers actually gave skipper Ned Yost a contract extension through 2005, with a club option for 2006. So the boys of summer zigged in response to the other leagues' zag. Party poopers.
